The purpose of the exhibition “Second Nature” is to explore and show the mutual fascination and affinity between Danish and Japanese designers in spite of their different cultural backgrounds. Its focus is on sublime craftsmanship challenging the line between art and crafts.
16 - 20 younger, promising and innovative designers and craftsmen will be invited. The designers work within the field of furniture design, textile design, ceramics etc. They are all are innovative and expressive artists and designers, who in their work all show a passionate connection to a minimalist way of thinking and expressing themselves. This is where they meet, even if the design has its origin in different philosophies, traditions and attitudes. Each piece of work will make us think about what we are, where we are heading and what we are surrounded by. Completely in keeping with the minimalist way of thinking.
This exhibition is important because it puts the craft and skills of the designers into focus. Thus the works show the importance of maintaining a professional expertise within the various fields of handicraft. Furthermore the ideal condition for creation of new innovative and unique products is put into perspective – this condition is dependent on a professional ability to be absorbed in and understanding the material of ones work.
The exhibition is the first of its kind in Denmark .
